Selection Guide

Choose by Function, Circuit & Terminals

Function: Momentary or Latching

Momentary OFF-(ON) switches close while pressed and return to the open state after release.
Latching ON-ON versions retain the selected state between presses.
Spring actuators operate a separate PCB-mounted switch; they contain no internal electrical contacts.

Circuit: SPST to 4PDT

SPST uses 2 terminals; SPDT uses 3 for one changeover pole.
DPDT, 3PDT and 4PDT models have 6, 9 and 12 switching terminals respectively.
Single-color and bi-color LED versions add indication; the LED supply is separate from the contact load rating.

Terminals: Wiring or PCB Assembly

Solder-lug versions support hand-wired assemblies; PCB-lug versions need the matching board footprint.
Wired versions connect through leads; short-shaft and long-lug versions provide different assembly layouts.
Match the bushing, panel fit, terminal spacing and installed height to the dimensional drawing.

Toppers enlarge the actuator surface; LED halo rings provide separate illumination. Their fit and electrical requirements differ from a complete foot switch. The catalog also includes guitar pickup toggle selectors, which are not foot-operated.

What Is the Difference Between Momentary and Latching Action?

A momentary switch returns when released; a latching switch retains its state until the next press. Normally open OFF-(ON) contacts close only while pressed. Momentary action suits a control input that needs a brief contact, while latching action suits a circuit that must hold its selected state.

How Do SPST, SPDT, DPDT, 3PDT and 4PDT Models Differ?

SPST switches one circuit on or off. SPDT changes one pole between two contacts; DPDT, 3PDT and 4PDT provide two, three and four changeover poles. The corresponding catalog terminal counts are 2, 3, 6, 9 and 12. Use the terminal diagram to identify each connection; pin count alone does not establish the switching action.

Can a PCB-Lug Model Replace a Solder-Lug Version?

Only if the electrical function and mechanical layout also match. Solder lugs accept hand-wired connections, while PCB versions must match the board footprint and installed height. Compare terminal spacing, bushing length, panel thickness and enclosure clearance using the exact drawing.

Are Toppers, LED Halo Rings and Spring Actuators Complete Switches?

No. Toppers fit over an existing actuator, and an LED halo ring provides separate illumination. A spring actuator presses a separate switch on the PCB and has no internal switching mechanism. These accessories need a compatible switch or board assembly. Guitar pickup toggle selectors are also listed here and are not foot-operated.

Do Contact Ratings Also Specify the LED Supply?

No. Contact load ratings and LED supply requirements are separate. Single-color and bi-color ring LED versions are listed, and the LH-12 is a separate halo accessory. Specify the LED color, supply and current-limiting arrangement independently; use the confirmed specification for the exact version rather than applying a contact rating to the LED.
