Selection Guide

Compare Medium Toggle Switches for Your Assembly

Medium toggle switches give equipment operators a direct panel-mounted control. The products below include maintained and momentary switches, single- and multi-pole circuits, sealed versions, pre-wired units, and switches supplied with covers or mounting accessories. Compare the required function, connection and installation first; then verify the electrical rating for the exact product.

Switching Function & Circuit

Choose ON-OFF for circuit isolation, ON-ON for selecting between connections, or a center-OFF arrangement when a neutral position is needed. Maintained switches stay in position; momentary positions return after release and are shown in parentheses. Single- and multi-pole products are listed. Confirm the contact diagram rather than using terminal count alone.

Terminal & Wiring Options

Screw terminals, quick-connect spade terminals, solder terminals, PCB connections and pre-attached wire leads are represented in this range. Compare terminal size, direction and clearance with your harness or board layout. Purpose-specific polarity-reversing assemblies use a defined jumper arrangement; verify the wiring diagram before choosing a replacement.

Mounting & Protection

Compare the panel cutout, bushing thread, panel thickness and space behind the panel. Selected products include protective caps, mounting plates or brackets. Sealed versions and covered versions have different protection specifications: a cover alone does not establish an IP rating. Confirm the exact switch, accessories and installation conditions.

Electrical Ratings Depend on the Version

This category includes both power-control switches and an electric-guitar pickup selector. They do not share one electrical rating or application. For example, the listed heavy-duty ON-OFF screw-terminal switch specifies 50A at 12VDC, while the sealed ON-OFF switch lists 15A at 250VAC, 20A at 125VAC and 30A at 12VDC. These ratings apply to those listed versions, not every switch in this category.

Specify AC or DC voltage, operating current and load type. Motor starting current, lamp inrush and other load conditions require checking against the current product specification. Do not convert an AC rating into a DC rating or select a switch from its appearance alone.

Details for a Comparable Quotation

Use three core comparison items for similar products: switching function and circuit configuration; electrical rating for the intended load; and terminal with mounting dimensions. Include the full ordering code or a reference drawing, required accessories, sample quantity and expected production volume. Confirm the current specification and supplied assembly before ordering.

Applications

Typical Switch Applications

Match the switch function and electrical specification to the assembly. Power-control and signal-selection products in this range serve different requirements.

Equipment Control Panels

Provide maintained ON-OFF, circuit selection or momentary control with the required poles, terminals and panel dimensions.

Vehicle & OEM Wiring

Compare screw, spade and pre-wired options for harness assembly. Check the specified DC rating and load conditions for the selected switch.

Instrument & Guitar Controls

Select purpose-specific signal or pickup switching by the contact arrangement and wiring layout. A guitar selector is not a general power switch.

Compare switching function and circuit configuration, electrical rating for the actual load, and terminal with mounting dimensions. Confirm maintained or momentary operation and the contact diagram for the exact version.

Parentheses identify a momentary position that returns after release. For example, (ON)-OFF-(ON) has two momentary positions with a center OFF position. Specify the required return action and circuit diagram.

Versions with specified AC and DC ratings can be used in the corresponding circuits. Select the exact switch by its rated voltage, current and load type, including starting or inrush current where relevant. Where only an AC rating is listed, contact DAIER to confirm the applicable DC specification.

No. A protective cover or cap does not by itself establish an IP rating. Confirm the documented protection level for the exact switch and the complete installed assembly.

Do not assume that it can. A reversing assembly may include jumper bars or pre-arranged wiring. Compare the contact diagram, jumper arrangement, terminal layout and load requirements before substitution.

Send the switching function, poles and throws, AC or DC voltage, current and load type, terminal style, mounting drawing, accessories and quantity. A part number or reference photo can help identify the required version.
